TRANSLATION
1) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. He is indeed a true follower of Lord Gauranga Deva. From his lotus mouth showers the nectar of Sri Krsna's name from which emanates the wonderful effulgence that destroys all ignorance.

2) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. He slightly smiles being absorbed in the bliss of chanting the holy names. His teeth illuminate in every direction. Torrents of ecstatic tears constantly bathe his face.

3) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. Just by hearing the sounds of mrdanga, his feet begin dancing. This captures one's mind, providing such pleasure that one's hair stands on end.

4) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. His dancing is so beautiful that it conquers the pride of the Gandharvas and amazes the assembly of all expert dancers and singers. Srila Narottama dasa Thakura has thus initiated his own style of singing and playing the mrdanga called manohara sahi.

5) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. Sometimes, in ecstasy he falls unconscious to the ground. Thus his effulgent body is adorned by the dust as a decoration. Only by the greatest fortune may one behold this divine sight.

6) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. Wherever his mercy flows, it will completely uproot the thirst for anything other than Krsna, in all the people assembled there.

7) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. His faith and steadiness of devotion is as solid as a rock. His touch transforms like the philosopher's stone. His words are as beneficial as the words of the scriptures.

8) Again and again I offer my obeisances unto Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. Whenever pious people see him they begin to ponder: "Is he an embodiment of devotion or is he the incarnation of renunciation in this world?"

9) A person who is absorbed in the ocean of the pastimes of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna should read these eight prayers aloud. By doing so, he will certainly attain the same abode obtained by Srila Narottama himself.

10) By Srila Narottama's merciful glance, even such qualities as unrestrained anger will be pacified. Let his beautiful limbs, the glow of his teeth, his lotus- like face, his slight smile and his dancing be manifested in my heart.

11) Made blissful by the exceedingly sweet sound of the mrdanga and karatalas and drinking the honey of the glorification of Sri Gaurangadeva as his lotus feet dance in a most enchanting fashion-May that Sri Narottama Thakura gratify me, his lowly servant, by bestowing the fulfillment of my internal desire.

So much sweet nectar is there in the Narottama Vilasa

On this holy day is the perfect time to offer this astakam to Srila Narottama das Thakura, and remember

TRANSLATION

1) O Vaisnava Gosvami, please be merciful to me now. There is no one except you who can purify the fallen souls.

2) Where does anyone find such a merciful personality by whose mere audience all sins go far away?

3) After bathing in the waters of the sacred Ganges many times, one becomes purified, but just by the sight of you, the fallen souls are purified. This is your great power.

4) The holy name delivers one who has committed an offense to Lord Hari, but if one commits an offense to you, there is no means of deliverance.

5) Your heart is always the resting place of Lord Govinda, and Lord Govinda says, "The Vaisavas are in My heart."

6) I desire the dust of your holy feet in every birth I may take. Please consider Narottama yours, and be kind upon him.

We can only offer Srila Narottama das Thakura his own song Ye anilo prema Dhana just as one offers Ganges water to mother Ganges

je ānilo prema-dhana koruṇā pracur
heno prabhu kothā gelā ācārya-ṭhākur

(2)
kāhā mora swarūp rūpa kāhā sanātan
kāhā dāsa raghunātha patita-pāvan

(3)
kāhā mora bhaṭṭa-juga kāhā kavirāj
eka-kāle kothā gelā gorā naṭa-rāj

(4)
pāṣāṇe kuṭibo māthā anale paśibo
gaurāńga guṇera nidhi kothā gele pābo

(5)
se-saba sańgīra sańge je koilo bilās
se-sańga nā pāiyā kānde narottama dās

TRANSLATION

1) He who brought the treasure of divine love and who was filled with compassion and mercy--where has such a personality as AdvaitA ACARYA gone? (It is Advaita Acarya that brought Lord Caitanya not Srinivasa Acarya thus this is a mistake..all Gaudiya math songbooks from the time of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada also states Advaita Acarya)

2) Where are my Svardpa Damodara and Rupa Gosvami? Where is Sanatana? Where is Raghunatha Dasa, the savior of the fallen?

3) Where are my Raghunatha Bhatta and Gopala Bhatta, and where is Krsnadasa Kaviraja? Where did Lord Gauranga, the great dancer, suddenly go?

4) I will smash my head against the rock and enter into the fire. Where will I find Lord Gauranga, the reservoir of all wonderful qualities?

5) Being unable to obtain the association of Lord Gauranga accompanied by all of these devotees in whose association He performed His pastimes, Narottama Dasa simply weeps.

SHRILA LOKANATHA GOSVAMI TO HIS DISCPLE SHRILA NAROTTAMA
From Prema-vilasa Chapter 11:

(Note: Both Shrila Prabhupada and Shrila Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada have accepted Prema-vilasa as a bonafide scripture in their commentaries to Shri Chaitanya-charitamrita Adi-lila 13.60 purport.)

je vaishnava haibe laibe harinama;
sankhya kari nama laile, kripa karena gauradhama.

"Those who are Vaishavas must chant the Holy Names in a particular number everyday. Then Lord Gauranga, the supreme Abode of love will be merciful to them.

WHAT IS THAT NUMBER?

purva abhipraye sabe laha harinama;
keha laksha viseshatah mukhe gana.

"Everyone should specifically chant or sing the name loudly 100,000 times a day (64 rounds) with the mood I have described earlier.

EMPOWERMENT:

narottama laksha nama laya sankhya kari;
nama laile gaurangera sarva sakti dhari.

"O my disciple, Narottama! Please chant 100,000 names everyday while maintaining their count. If you chant in this way then you will become empowered by all the potencies of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu."

(note)

kali-kalera dharma--krishna-nama-sankirtana;
krishna-sakti vina nahe tara pravartana.
(Cc Antya-lila 7.11)

"The fundamental religious system in the Age of Kali is the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. Unless empowered by Krishna, one cannot propagate the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.
