ISKCON News: Mahotsaha Das Breaks Book Distributing Record [Article]

this is a huge score Mahotsaha das 1,458 books! It is huge my biggest score with Mahabig books was in 1983 Prabhupada Christmas Marathon 183 Maha Big books in Germany ,with medium books I once did over 700 medium books when they opened the Native American Museum in Washington DC ,and the most literatures me and my son distributed at one July 4th Ratha Yatra and so on also in Washington DC was 3500 on Chanting Hare Krsna but these where given out for free, so many devotees have big scores .I recall another time in 1985 in Nellore South India we distributed 10.000 Bhagavad Gitas in 2 days that had just been printed in Telegu ,I believe 4 of us in a sankirtana bus from ISKCON Mumbai ,Kumba Mela in 1986 in Haridwara we distributed thousands of books at our ISKCON Vrindavana sankirtana bus ,often also later when I was Sankirtana leader for ISKCON Vrindavana Sankirtana bus for couple month we often did 1000 or 2000 books daily , but meeting lots of people in the West on the street and doing so many books is amazing there was one mataji disciple of Lokanath Maharaja few years ago she also distributed lots of books I believe 60.000 books in over a month ,that is properly one of the biggest score for one individual devotee in a month .
Now often devotees get jealous ,ahhh that is peanuts, oh ok well try to go out and distribute 1458 books, can you even do 100 books ?Can you even make it out the door before you get to tired of the books you should have distributed hahahahah.I recall one time Dhananjaya Prabhu a real wonderful Prabhupada disciple and I preached to him how all Prabhupadas disciples should be out there distributing for Srila Prabhupadas centennial Marathon , he took it with such humility and he went out there morning to evening for 31 days , and maybe not so many devotees noticed I know Srila Prabhupada noticed his wonderful servant Dhananjaya Prabhu and still by 8 pm he was out there working hard to distribute Srila Prabhupadas books on Soho Street . He was out there with the rest of us, not looking down on us Sankirtana devotees oh me I am big Prabhupada disciple I am too big to distribute Srila Prabhupadas books on his centennial. That is surrender...
In Mahabharata there is an interesting pastimes about Barbarika the son of Ghatokacha and grandson of Bhima with Hidimbi
So Barbarika obtained 4 arrows by tapasya from his Guru that would make him invincible ,but he had decided only to support the weakest in the Battle of Kuruksetra and taken this as a vow, the Pandavas had fewer divisions than Duryodhana, but Krsna told him when happens when Duryodhanas army reduce due to your powerful weapons then you will have to take the side of the Kauravas and in this way both Armies will be destroyed just by your weapons .SO Barbarika surrendered to Krsna and said my Lord you tell me what you want, Krsna told Barbarika but of your head and give it to me, and he did, the head remained immortal but the body died,Krsna and the Pandavas placed Barbarika on a hill to see what took place on the Battle field

After the Battle field the Pandavas went and asked Barbarika who by Sri Krsnas grace had become fully transcendental due to his surrender what he had seen many sages came to hear from the great Mahatma Barbarika and he told them all in detail, but then he said something to shatter everyone's pride, yes Bhima and Arjuna appeared to have killed millions but in actuality, it was Krsnas Sudarshan Chakra that killed everyone .So from this we can learn we must do our best in the service of Krsna but actually, Krsna is the doer, many times I recall when I wanted to distribute many books I prayed to Krsna ,my dear Lord Caitanya I am not the doer you are, if you let me be an instrument in your hands then only can I do something wonderful for your service. With this kind of mentality there is no limit as soon you think I am the doer, then empowerment flies out the door ..so in book distribution we must have this mentality I am not the doer
