Gaura Kisora das Babaji and his no nonsense approach

Today I found out a bit late it was Gaura Kisora das Babajis disappearenceday

Gaura Kisora das Babaji was a disciple of  Bhagavat dasa Babaji who was a disciple of Jagannatha das Babaji.

He was a non nonsense that practized the austere line of Babaji life and chanting 2 lahks daily (128 rounds).

Srila Jagannatha das Babaji taught one should chant 2 lahks daily or minimum 1  lahk daily.

Later Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada also chanted for many years in Mayapure not in any kirtana simply japa he chanted, 1 billions names .Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhuapda was   very strict about chanting 64 rounds minimum,He never compromised.

Gaura Kisora das Babaji also spoke out against seclusive chanting if maturity was lacking.However 64 rounds remains the standard set by merciful Lord Caitanya and we can take it or leave it .....that is our choice

Srila Prabhupada also encouraged chanting more for those who are sincere:

Letter to: Indira (Iris Mendoza), Ekayani (Esther Mendoza), San Francisco, 17 December, 1967 "I am very glad to learn you are chanting 48 rounds. Actually it is all right that one should chant 64 rounds, even 16 rounds, so if one is able to chant more than 16 rounds up to 64, it is very good. You fix up your rounds. Try to increase it but never decrease it." {Note: Indira is fairly new devotee at that time.) VERY GOOD AND VERY NICE IF YOU CAN DO IT (CHANT 64 ROUNDS):

Lokanath das Goswami instructed Narottama das Thakura: je vaishnava haibe laibe harinama; sankhya kari nama laile, kripa karena gauradhama.

"Those who are Vaishavas must chant the Holy Names in a particular number everyday. Then Lord Gauranga, the supreme Abode of love will be merciful to them.

 

purva abhipraye sabe laha harinama; keha laksha viseshatah mukhe gana. "Everyone should specifically chant or sing the name loudly 100,000 times a day (64 rounds) with the mood I have described earlier. :

narottama laksha nama laya sankhya kari; nama laile gaurangera sarva sakti dhari. "O my disciple, Narottama! Please chant 100,000 names everyday while maintaining their count. If you chant in this way then you will become empowered by all the potencies of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu."

Gaura Kisora das Babaji had no time for fancy  "vaisnava meetings" with 500 types of prasadam .He used all his time to chant Hare Krsna and carefully meditate on Lord Caitanya and Radha Krsnas astakalia lilas,
