When I was on Padayatra in 1985 we came to this sacred place ,Lord Brahma while creating is said to have come to this place and do a Yajna, and Lord Visnu came and reminded him of doing his job of creation so it is considered the oldest religious site in all the Vedas and Puranas ,a kunda was created by Lord Visnus Sudarshan Chakra called Papamocana kunda, so if you bath in the kunda all your sins are burned up and then you are qualified to take darshan of Lord Janardana .Lord Caitanya came to this holy place and danced in front of Lord Janardana in ecstacy for 2 days, and the temple is amazing and what to speak of Lord Janardans darshan you sure feel you have entered Vaikuntha .When we chant Tilaka mantra and Om Janardanaya Namah refers to this ancient form of Lord Visnu .In Vaikuntha is one of the planets the Vaikuntha planet of Lord Janardana .By worshipping Lord Janardana there one prays to serve Lord Janardana in Vaikuntha that is the mood of the Sri Vaisnavas .It is one of their 100 most holy places to visit.We Gaudiya Vaisnavas beg that Lord Visnu removes 2 arms and become Lord Sri Krsna in Vrindavana playing flute.
We had an ecstatic program with Padayatra big Pandal program and we took a dip in the sea also .And they served us hot Payasama ,South Indian sweetrice, Idlis with coconut dipping ,wadas and what not I believe some kind of tamarind rice.
At night I was asked to lead the kirtana Sobha yatra, which is we take Gaura Nitai in procession and do walking kirtan,One Prabhupada disciple from England Vrajendranandana (different from the one in Malayasiya ) he got hot by a scooter as he was spinning around and around dancing le in ecstasy . 40 people gathered around him they thought something serious happened and Vrajendranandana Prabhu almost jumped into their faces HARI BOL HARI BOL HARI BOL ,he was still in ecstasy .Next day Bhagavan das Goswami GBC of France and UK visited he almost drowned at that ocean there .
