Draupadi and the month of Purusottama
Most devotees do not read my posts carefully and miss out on all the Nectar I post , if you actually take the time to read what I post you will learn many things.I was to mention one of the things I posted from the Puranas about Purusottama month ,Draupadi in her previous life was the daughter of a well known Brahmana ,the name is not given, Druvasa Muni knew her father and advised her to worship Krsna in the month of Purusottama , however she did not trust Durvasa Muni and chastised him for telling her to worship Krsna in the month of Purusottama and she said this month is known as the "stool month" the useless month.Durvasa got furious and was about to curse her, but remembering the friendship with her parents he did not and controlled his anger, but due to her offenses to the month of Purusottama she lost her beauty and many things, instead she worshipped Lord Siva for hundreds of years.Lord Siva told her that she had disrespected Durvasa Muni and Purusottama month,,but she should ask for a blessing.5 times she asked for a husband and Lord Siva said you will have 5 husbands.She begged him to take that blessing back and said he could not that in her next life she would have 5 excellent husbands.Thus in the next life she was born as Draupadi from the fire sacrifice of King Drupada ..the later married the 5 Pandavas, when the Pandavas where in exile and was in the sacred forest of Kamyavana Sri Krsna told all this to the Pandavas and Draupadi , and Krsna said because you disobeyed Durvasa Muni and offended the month of Purusottama Month , Dushasana almost striped you naked this was due to your offenses ,But I want you Pandavas and Draupadi to now observe Purusottama month here in my sacred Vraja in this forest of Kamyavana , (this forest fullfills all ones spiritual desires ).Krsna blessed the Pandavas that sound they would kill the Kauravas that had offended them .Krsna told the pastime how the Month of Purusottama came of Lord Visnu and asked for His mercy, Lord Visnu said I will take you to Lord Krsna since you will need His mercy to make you and auspicious month .Krsna said meeting Purusottama month ,I blessed her ,Her month will become Me personally and the activities of Bhakti done in this month will lead to this abode Goloka Vrindavana. This is part of Vaikuntha, so why are you still crying there is no material anxiety in My abode .Thus Lord Visnu took the now blissful Purusottama Month back to earth in this Universe , offering obeisance's to Krsna seated on a Simhasana surrounded by His Cowherd boys and Gopis .
There are many lessons to be learned at the present many devotees have lost faith in fasting in Vsnutattva days and take grains the Puranas state those who take grains on Visnu tattva days take birth again in the material world.Also Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada instituted Radhastami as a fasting day where one can only take ekadasi prasadam (anukalpa Prasadam ) after fasting or one should fast till the next day.If we want to go back home to Godhead we should follow all these things or we may face many obstacles like Sri Draupadi did until her offenses to Purusottama month was removed ,Draupadi was taking full shelter of Krsna always ,and that saved her from so much humiliation in the end.
