worship of Ugra Narasimha Salagrama Sila for those who chant 64 rounds of the Mahamantra daily !
When I entered grhastha life one devotee n asked me if can still worship Ugra Narasimha Salagrama ,since he thought it is only for Sannyasis and Brahmacaries ..
Not so ,what asrama was Prahlada Maharaja ? He was a grhastha and worshipped Lord Narasimha in all his forms there is no mention in Sastra Ugra Narasimha Salagrama is only for Brahmacaries and Sannyasis . But you still have to live in celibacy when entering Grhastha life ,Salagrama Sila worship is not for those engaged in illicit sex .Prahlaja Maharaja had two Deities one was Sri Sri Varaha Narasimha and he worshipped an Ugra Narasimha Salagrama ,however that Sila manifested Himself into Yoga Narasimha that is worshipped in Melkote
If you go to this page done by ISKCON Devotees Salagram kosh ch 5 you will see the mention that :The Narasimha-salagrama has an elongated mouth, tawny-hued, a longish chakra and a big belly (viz. Middle portion). This stone is suitable for worship by ascetics.
So yes strict Sannyasis , Brahmacaries or renounced grhasthas can worship Ugra Narasimha ,but notice many worship Ugra Narasimha in Kali Yuga and do not worship Lord Caitanya nor do they even chant the Mahamantra, Lord Caitany stated unless one chants 64 rounds daily the Lord (in any form ) will not accept ones worship so thus worship if SrI Ugra Narasimha is to be worshipped all devotees must chant 64 rounds daily .Why?
Well we are supposed to follow Lord Caitanya so if we worship any Deity of Lord Narasimha or Salagrama Sila or any Arca Vigraha really you should be chanting 64 rounds daily or you are fallen, even if you have the rubber stamp sannyasi or GBC, or Guru unless you chant 64 rounds daily YOU ARE PATITA:
Chaitanya Bhagavata on Laksha Naam
THE PERFECTION OF LIFE IS TO GET THE DEGREE OF LAKSHESHVARA FROM LORD GAURANGA MAHAPRABHU HIMSELF
In Shri Chaitanya-bhagavata, Antya Khanda 9.121-122, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu instructed everyone on whose worship and service He will accept:
(121) prabhu bale,-"jana, 'lakshesvara' bali kare?
prati-dina laksha-nama ye grahana kare"
"Do you know who is a laksesvara? He is someone who chants one laksa or 100,000 holy names (64 rounds of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra) everyday."
Purport by Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
shri gaurasundera balibena-"jini pratidina laksha-nama grahana karibena, tanharai grihe bhagavan sevita hana.
Shri Gaurasundera spoke as follows-"The Supreme Personality of Godhead accepts service only in the home of those who chant one hundred thousand names daily.
"bhagavan tanharai nikate bhoga-dravyadi grahana karena.
"The Lord accepts bhoga (foodstuffs) and other ingredients only from such personalities.
"jini laksha-nama grahana karena na, tahara nikate haite bhagavan naivedya svikara-dvara seva-saubhagya pradana karena na.
"Those who don't chant 100,000 names (64 rounds) daily, are never awarded the great fortune of rendering service to the Lord by offering Him naivedya (bhoga). This is because the Lord never accepts (svikara) their offerings.
Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
"bhagavad-bhakta matrei pratyaha laksha-nama grahana karibena natuva vividha visaye asakta haiya bhagavad-seva karite asamartha haibena."
The Lord continued-"Those who consider themselves devotees of the Lord must compulsorily chant 100,000 names of Krishna everyday otherwise they will gradually but surely become attached to varieties of sense-objects and thus become incapable to rendering any kind of service to the Lord."
Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
tajjanyai shri chaitanyadevera ashrita sakalai nyuna kalpe laksha-nama grahana kariya thakena. natuva gaurasunderera udeshya pradatta naivedya tini grahana karibena na.
(Shrila Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada continues) "Therefore all the devotees who have taken shelter of Lord Chaitanyadeva perform the chanting of a minimum of 100,000 names of Krishna daily as their first and primary duty. Because they know that if they don't do so then Lord Gaurasundera will never accept the very bhoga (naivedya) which they cook for Him daily.
(122) "se janera nama ami bali 'lakshesvara'
tatha bhiksha amara, na yai anya ghara."
"Lord Gauranga continued-I call such a person a laksheshvara. I only accept meals in such a person's house. I never go anywhere else."
Purport by Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
shri chaitanya bhaktagana abhaktera sahita sambhashana karena na. jini bhaktivyatita karma, jnana o anyabhilashara kathaya pradatta tahara sahita bandhutva karibe na.
"The devotees of Lord Shri Chaitanya never talk with such non-devotees. They never do friendship with those who are engaged in the cultivation of karma, jnana or other desires which are devoid of bhakti.
pratyah laksha-nama grahana na karile patita vyaktiganera visaya-bhoga pravritti vriddhi paya, takhana ara tahara shri gaurasunderarera seva karite pare na.
"Those who don't accept this vow of chanting 100,000 names daily, fall down even more although they were fallen in the first place (due to the contamination of Kali-yuga). Thus their propensity for enjoying the senses and sense-objects continually and steadily increases and ultimately they are not able to render any kind of service even to the most merciful Lord Gaurasundera.
lakshesvara vyatita gaura-bhaktira adarsa gaudiyajana kehai svikara karena na.
"This is the precise reason why the real Gaudiya-bhaktas do not accept any other ideal (adarsa) in Gaura-bhakti or Krishna-bhakti except the process of chanting 100,000 names of the maha-mantra daily.
Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
adhapatita va adhapete gana eka-matra bhajana-sabda-vacya shri-nama-bhajane vimukhata-vasata laksha-nama grahana karibara parivarte anya bhajanera chalana korena, taddvara tahadera kona mangala haya na.
"Those spiritual aspirants who are already fallen or will fall down from spiritual life in the future are averse to this sole means of deliverance called nama-bhajana, which is the worship of the sound incarnation of God in the form of chanting 100,000 names of the the Holy Names daily. Coming under the sway of their averseness to chant laksha-nama daily, they duplicitously invent (chalana) other means of devotional service (bhajana) to justify their not chanting 100,000 names daily but it is to be clearly understood that by this action they will not achieve anything auspicious (mangala) in their spiritual life."
This is way to heavy for most neophytes that struggle to complete even 16 rounds but still I have expalined it .There are many glories in worshipping Ugra Narasimha Salagrama I have explained it also in my book Sri Narasimha.
However Srila Narayana Maharaja asked me to worship my Ugra Narasimha Salagrama as Brajendranandana Krsna in Vrindavana, Ugra Narasimha is an expansion of and expansion of Lord Sri Krsna, so worship of Krsna in Vrindavana even included worship of Ugra Narasimha
As Sriman Kusakratha Prabhu stated in his Narasimha Palana Parthana :
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah pranadhikatmastu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharano dhynantaratmastu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharano nityatma maitryo stu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah padabja sthapyo stu nah
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha, be more dear than life to us.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha , always stay in our thoughts.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha .always be our friend and wellwisher.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha, give us a place at His Lotusfeet.
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah karunyavan astu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah premarthakatmastu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharano gehatma datastu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah samsara tratastu nah.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha, always be kind to us.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha , always be the object of our love..
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha . take us home(back to Godhead ) with Him.
May Lord Krsna who appeared as Narasimha, take us from this world of birth and death
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah smerananatmstu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah prahladitatmastu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharanah seva prahlado stu nah
Sri Krsno narasimha rupa dharano nityatma natho stu nah
May Lord Krsna ,who appeared as Nrsimha smile on us
May Lord Krsna ,who appeared as Nrsimha be pleased with us
May Lord Krsna ,who appeared as Nrsimha,be happy to accept, the service we offer Him.
May Lord Krsna ,who appeared as Narasimha allow us to serve Him forever
Once when the Muslims in Navadvipa wanted to kill Srivasa Thakura or at least harm him and his family , he started worshipping Ugra Narasimha
and chant many Narasimha prayers, Lord Caitanya came running and kicked in the door and shouted I AM HE I AM HE
(I am Lord Narasimha) then Lord Caitanya manifested His form of Ugra Narasimha and told Srivasa Thakura to have no fear ,this pastime is there in Caitanya Bhagavata I have quoted this pastime also in Sri Narasimha .Srivasa Thakura was in the grhastha asrama though he is Narada Muni himself thus the Gayatri Mantra is :
Gayatri mantra :Srim Srivasaya vidmahe naradakyaya dimahi tan no bhaktah pracodayat
I meditate of Sr Srivasa Thakura the incarnation of Narada Muni may he enthuse our devotional service as he is a devotee of Lord Gauranga
All glories to the lotusfeet of Srivasa Thakura who is Narada Muni incarnated to serve Lord Gauranga
Here is a pastime of Narada Muni who installed Guru Narasimha in South India, I have not mentioned this pastime in Sri Narasimha as there are unlimited pastimes of Lord Narasimha
how Narada Muni in Satya Yuga assisted Lord Narasimha in His pastimes of killing Hiranyakasipu is so interesting and I could write a whole book about that alone
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Kutumbam | Saligrama (srinarasimhakutumbam.org)
Besides this you should know according to Skanda Purana all Salagrama silas are auspicious when worshipped with Bhakti for ourselves and others even if we live in the countries full of Mellechas , meat-eaters and what not :
mlecchadese sucav vapi cakranko yatra tisthati
yajanani tatha trini mama ksetram vasundhare
tanmadhye mriyate yastu pujakah susamahitah
sarva vadhavinirmukto punah so api na jayate
"A Salagrama-sila, when duly worshipped at any place inhabited by any class of people, is able to purify an area with a radius of 24 miles. That area should be considered Visnu-loka, nondifferent from the abode of Visnu. If someone believing in the sanctity of Salagrama-sila, as per the verdict of the sastra, breathes their last within that 24 mile radius, he is sure to attain mukti, salvation from material bondage."

Srila Rupa Goswami has quoted in his Padayavali the benefit of association with devotees that worship Ugra Narasimha Salagrama Sila :
hatyam hanti yad-anghri-sanga-tulasi steyam ca toyam pador naivedyam bahu-madya-pana-duritam gurv-angana-sanga-jam shrisadhina-matih sthitir hari-janais tat-sanga-jam kilbisham shalagrama-shila-nrisimha-mahima ko ‘py esha lokottarah
A tulasi leaf offered to the lotus feet of the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila destroys the sin of murder. Water that has washed the lotus feet of the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila destroys the sin of theft. Foodstuff offered to the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila destroys the sin of drinking liquor. Sincere surrender to the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila destroys the sin of adultery with the wife of the spiritual master. Association with the devotees of the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila destroys the sin of offenses to the devotees. This is the extraordinary glory of the Nrisimha Shalagrama-shila. —Shri Agama
