I was asked what is the significance of Subhadra in Jagannath worship ? She is not only the wife of Arjuna, do not think Arjuna an ordinary jiva ,he is not only empowered jiva but a Nitya siddha , when MahaVisnu met Krsna and Arjuna ,MahaVisnu stated that Nara Narayana Rsis are your non different form .Subhadra is Yoga maya in Dvaraka ,so when Krsna and Balarama goes to Gundica that symbolizes Krsnas return to Vrindavana , it is not Rasa bhasa Yoga Maya goes with KRsna and Balarama .Did Krsna Balarama and Subhadra return to Vrindavana at one point it is recorded Balarama went alone and pacified the Vrijabasis and Krsna went also and He send Uddhava first with various letters one to Nanda Maharaja one to the Sakhas and one to Radha and the Gopis .In Vrindavana ,Purnamasi is Yogamaya and helps arrange Krsnas lilas as She is also part of Krsnas lila saktis . In Dvaraka, Subhdra devi for example arrange the Yadavas to leave this world and Dvaraka to be destroyed by the ocean and they Krsna and Balarama also left this world !This pastime of Krsna Balaramas disappearing took place in Phalguna around the 14 th of february yearly

Per Nielsen actually Subhadra is Yoga Maya accoding to Srila Prabhupada 3 opiniones are there but I accept Subhadra as Yoga Maya this is not only accepted by our Srila Prabhupada but in Vrindavana this is also understood .Subhadra was taken by Vasudeva and brought to Mathura She is really the daughter of Mother Yasoda : Subhadra is Yogamaya, The spiritual energy is called Yogamaya. And she had 16 different expansions. Out of these 16 expansions, Subhadra is one. The Mahamaya of the material energy is also expansion of the energy of Yogamaya; and both Yogamaya and Mahamaya are equally important to Krsna as much as any government department is equally important for functioning the government. Regarding your question about Subhadra and Durga, they are not at all the same. Durga's other name is Bhadra, not Subhadra, and Durga's activities are within the material world. Subhadra does not work as Durga. Subhadra is internal energy, and Durga is external energy. As energy they have a relationship as much as we are energies of Krsna, but the energies are working in different capacities. (Letter to Hamsaduta – LA, 9th Feb.1969)

Per Nielsen this article by Nrsingha Maharaja explains nicely how all 3 versiones is correct .Subhadra is Yoga maya.I like to add Vasudeva took Subhadras expansion Durga as a child to Kamsas Prison , and then Subhadra became the daughter of Rohini , was she transfered to the womb of Rohini and then also took birth from Rohini is how I learned about Subhadra in Vraja,so She is really a Vrijabasis .Now if Purnamasi is already Yoga Maya then Subhadra also Srila Prabhupada in his letter to Madhusudana states Yoga Maya has 16 expansiones ,so Subhadra is one of them

Per Nielsen Sridhara Swami Srila Prabhupadas godbrother stated that Subhadra was later born in Mathura after the killing of Kamsa as the daughter of Rohinidevi ,he was very learned in sastra ,so that is properly true. He was not a person to spetculate. So like the idea Subhadra appeared in Gokula may be not true I do not know for sure I do not have the sastra praman Subhadra was born in Gokula if she was indeed born in Gokula surely Srila Raghunath das Goswami would have mentioned her in his Vraja Vilasa Stava
