Kesava Kasmiri, has mentioned in his commentary to Bhagavad Gita 1.1 that Dhrtarastra remembered how Arjuna single handedly defeated the whole Kaurava Army ,this is the time
the Pandavas where is disguise for one year in the court of King Virat, this is why he knew the battle with the Pandavas was no small feat, actually Srila Vyasadeva had already told
his son Dhrtarastra about the outcome of the war and Vidura also had many times pointed out that Krsna is the Supreme Lord.Krsna had even shown his universal form, when Duryodhaha foolishly tried to arrest Krsna, so actually Dhrtarastra should worry, and Sanjaya so many times before and during the war told Dhrtarastra that his sons would loose
in sometimes direct and other times indirectly, added to the fact that Krsna Himself was the chariot driver of Arjuna, how could the Pandavas not win this war:?
