Some devotees have expressed concerns that the pastime of Hanuman killed Mahiravana and Ahiravana is not there in Sri Valmiki Munis Ramayana..Also Sri Tulsi das Goswami who is Sri Valmiki Muni has not mentioned the killing of Mahiravana and Ahiravana .Even it is not mentioned in the Puranas .So where is Panca Mukha Hanuman mentioned ? In the Agama Sastras

What is the Agama sastras ,they are Vedic pastimes that has been handed down from generation to generation ,and there is many written sastras that are Agama sastras like some of the Pancaratrikas that are about worship and Vaikhanasas.There is also Siva Agamas that carry the worship down of Lord Siva from Lord Siva himself.So there is vaisnava Agamas.Narada Pancaratrika is also part of the Pancharatras and so is for example Garga Samhita and Brahma Samhita ,Sanat Kumara Samhita is also considered very important for vaisnavas.

So in the Agamas there is prayers to Panca Mukha Hanuman .Panchamukha Anjaneya Kavacham is one of them .

there is there is at least 5 other different kinds of Hanuman Kavachas :
Panchmukhi Hanuman Kavacha
Hanuman Chalisa by Sri Tulsi das Goswami is also a Kavacha
Hanuman Kavacha from Brahmanda Purana
Panchamukha Anjaneya Stotra
Ekadasa Mukh Hanuman Kavacham

So out of these Kavachas :Panchmukhi Hanuman Kavacha ,Panchamukha Anjaneya Stotra, describe Hanuman with 5 heads and there is one Hanuman kavacha that is also ancient Ekadasa Mukh Hanuman Kavacham it describes Hanuman with 11 heads.

The tempels that worship Hanuman in South India all follow these various Agama sastras in their worship of Lord Visnu ,Narasimha and Hanuman, Lord Caitanya extracted the Brahma Samhita also from South India at the Adi Kesava temple in Kerala.

Some of the Ramayanas that mention Lord Ramachandra and Laxmana being kidnapped into Patala loka is for example :Kritivasi Ramayana that has origin in Bengal and Kamba Ramayana that is in Tamil .There is hundreds of Ramayanas in India and most of them are of bonafide sources such as Adi Ramayana.It contains for example Aditya Hrdayam a mantra given to Lord Ramachandra by Agastya Muni before killing Ravana ,it is often chanted by Sri Vaisnavas.Srila Raghavendra Swami was once performing Tapasya for 12 years in a cave and Hanuman in his Panca Mukha form blessed him.He was in the line of Srila Madhavacarya was born in 1595 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raghavendra_Swami .He gave many teachings about Pancha Mukha Hanuman.

Panca Mukha Hanuman is also worshipped by Vaisnava tantric mantras to remove ghosts . Citesvara Prabhu a disciple of HH Jayapataka Swami was very famous in ISKCON for performing these Panca Mukha Hanuman yajgnas and made Hanuman Kavachas for many devotees in ISKCON. I have found some of these vaisnava tantric rituals that are very powerful to invoke Hanuman and for example remove ghosts ,if anyone is interested I can provide them.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Astakam for example is a very old prayer to Hanumam and is said to grant the chanter elevation to the abode of Lord Ramachandra in the Spiritual word:

In the Kritivasi Ramayana and Kamba Ramayana , there was a rumor that Ahiravana would kidnap Laxmana and Ramachandra and take them to Patala loka where Mahiravana would offer them to Durga as human sacrifices.Hanuman guards the door to where Rama and Laxmana are resting and Ahiravana takes the form of Vibhisana and tricks Hanuman to enter.He then takes Rama and Laxmana through a tunnel in the earth into Patala that is supposed to be situated within the earth. Srila Prabhupada mentioned there is a tunnel from Sri Lanka to Peru .The original tunnel is still there in Sri Lanka and Peru .

It appears Ravana got his gold from South America and build Sri Lanka in gold ,

I have provided some links with some interesting facts for those who want to know the subject deeper.As one of the chapters in my upcoming Narasimha books also deals with Panca Mukha Hanuman.

I consider it important to show that Hanuman as Panca Mukha Hanuman is not fiction but based on solid sastric evidence.Still there will be doubting souls in this world about every subject .But those devotees with intelligence will under stand this subject well, so therefore I have written this article
