This is also a GBC proposal everyone should distribute Srila Prabhupadas books as directed by His Divine Grace at least once a week the temple can organize everyone goes about from Bhakta to GBC ,it is also part of a GBC resolution but so far no GBC has set the example

I recall having read Jayananda Prabhu giving Srila Prabhupadas money for printing,or it could have been from the many remembrances I have heard by various Prabhupada disciples.
One thing I found was this from the end of his life:
http://vishoka.com/
"Jayananda did not give way to terms of the body, or affection thereof, and he did not yield to negative thoughts or despair … he just did his service to Srila Prabhupada and Lord Jagannatha despite all impediments. He did the monumental task of building the NY Ratha-yatra carts, and then, despite being deathly sick and drained of energy and deprived of sleep, he danced for Lord Jagannatha all day long in the parade. When he was in the hospital, he didn’t give in to weakness, he continued to preach to the other patients, giving them a Krishna Book to read, and distributed prasadam to all. Later he did LA Ratha-yatra from his bed, and he gave a talk at his birthday despite being so weak as to barely talk, and he danced in mangal-arotik one morning, though he came in wheelchair and could barely walk."
untill the very end he was distributing Krsna books, and some give him as an excuse why they should not distribute Prabhupadas books shame on them
The point is today one devotee said I do not have to distribute Srila Prabhupadas books because the GBC's and sannyasis and TP's ,BBT persons like Dravida Prabhu and Jayadvaita Swami and even Jayananda Prabhu never did.
The fact is there is letters where Srila Prabhupada has encouraged even the GBC's to join the bookdistribution party, I know Madhavananda Prabhu posted one such letter .
Srila Prabhupadas instruction is very clear bookdistribution is for all members of ISKCON:SB 7.944 purport:
Rather, every member of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is interested in going door to door to try to convince people about the teachings of Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, the teachings of Lord Caitanya. That is the purpose of the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement
Here is other examples how Jayananda Prabhu distributed Srila Prabhupadas books:
http://webspace.webring.com/people/nv/vishoka/Muralikrsna.htm
Whenever he was around, he was a big guy, a very big man, and he also was very positive, he emanated positive energy. No matter what kind of negative thing came to him, he'd just turn it around and send it right out positive. He'd look at the guy and just turn his head right around, do double back flips, and the guy would go away going, "Jai, Hari bol!" He'd come in like, "Jayananda, there are problems at the temple and we've got to do this and that," and he'd just go, "Ah, Lord Jagannatha!" He'd just be so into devotional service, so into distributing prasadam, so into giving a Gita out to anybody.
We went into this one place, it was in the back alleys of Brooklyn, it was a special cheap machine shop that Jayananda found. It looked like it was about 1919 in there. The guy looked like he hasn't seen the 1970's yet. He had these old glasses that were on him like this, and he had this hair that was hanging out sideways, and about three days shave on this side, clean shave on this side, he was real old. And he looked at us coming with our shaved heads and he looked up through his glasses like this and he said, "Can I help you?" Jayananda kind of went over to him and he had aBhagavad-gita with him, and Jayananda needed some kind of special thing that we couldn't find anywhere and the guy had it. So Jayananda talked the guy into giving it to him for a Bhagavad-gita. And then the guy took the Gita and he was looking at it and he was looking at the pictures of Krishna and Arjuna and the disciplic succession, and the guy was just going, "My, this is fascinating!" And Jayananda was explaining things to him. When we got out of there, Jayananda was just in bliss, he was just going, "Did you see how that old guy had the Gita right in his hand and he was looking at the pictures? Oh, that was just bliss!" He was just really into preaching to anybody.
So when I went out to Los Angeles to see him in his last days, that's when he was bedridden, he couldn't get out of bed, and he said to me, "You know, I got this body." You see, Jayananda, he didn't think that getting the disease was a bad thing, he was thinking, "This is a benediction, this is a blessing for me. Now I know death is right at hand." When he was in the hospital, he was distributing pakoras to everybody, and he had this one lady readingKrishna Book. And Adi-kesava walked in the room one day and she goes, "I'm reading about Krishna, but who the heck is Balarama?" So he never stopped, he never even thought about stopping. Self-pity was the furthest thing from his mind. I walked into the room, he goes, "It's the best thing. This is the best thing for me. Now this body's shot, get another one, keep serving Prabhupada." He goes, "Murali, this body is useless now, it doesn't work anymore. I can't do anything. Actually, I feel pretty bad because I can't even go to mangal-aratik, I'm the worst example, here I am an older devotee." And I was just sitting there going...I mean, his understanding and his relationship with Prabhupada was just so deep and so he really understood. So in that way he was thinking that he'd just get another body and serve Prabhupada, and in L.A. he just pushed on till the last moments of his time with ISKCON and Prabhupada, and then he just went back to the spiritual world
Some quotes on distributing books from our Founder Acarya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. My first concern is that my books shall be published and distributed profusely all over the world. Practically books are the basis for our movement. Without books, our preaching will have no effect. These books and magazines are our most important propaganda weapons to defeat the ignorance of Maya's army, and the more we produce such literature and sell it profusely al over the world, the more we shall deliver the world from its suicide course. So your work is the most important preaching work. May Krishna bless you more and more. Thank you for helping me in this way. These books are the life of human society…. We are putting these books for deliberation before the topmost thinkers of human society. Therefore I have to see that in all languages all of our books are published. If we strain, and if someone takes one book home, some day people will come to understand what valuable knowledge they have received. It is transcendental literature. Krishna consciousness is the absolute need of the present day society, and there are many people who will come to join us if we simply make these teachings of Bhagavad-Gita and the rest of the Vedic literature available to them. This is our greatest weapon. Our first business is this book distribution. There is no need of any other business. If this book distribution is managed properly, pushed on with great enthusiasm and determination and at the some time if our men keep spiritually strong, then the whole world will become Krishna Conscious. I am very pleased to hear that you are increasing your distribution for our books. This is a good sign that your preaching work is also strong. The more you increase your strength in preaching, the more you will go on selling books. I want especially that my books be distributed widely. Your plans for increasing both distribution are very good…Distribution of all these books is making a firm basis for our movement. Our literatures are unique in the world…. and someday the world will realize and appreciate these transcendental literature. To distribute books is our most important activity. The temple is a place not for eating and sleeping, but a base from which we send out our soldiers to fight with maya. “Fight with maya” means to drop thousands and millions of books into the top of the conditional souls. You have taken seriously the publishing and also the distribution of these books and that is the success of our mission. You have taken seriously this work, and I know that my Guru Maharaja is pleased with you because he wanted this. So by this endeavor you will all go back home, back to Godhead.
Another great soul that distributed Srila Prabhupadas books is Buddhimanta Prabhu he told me basically on his deathbed about bookdistribution,he is one of the first 2 bookdistributors in ISKCON, he told me how they would distribute hundred of thousands BTG's and books in Japan that helped for the construction of Krsna Balarama mandir,So those who have something against the distribution of Srila Prabhupadas books should remember the sacrifice of Buddhimanta Prabhu and many other devotees that helped collect for Krsna Balarama mandir , under Guru Krpa Prabhu, then they can appriciate,I am sad some have no love and respect for this important instruction of Srila Prabhupada to distribute his books (and read them)

I have proven that Jayananda Prabhu distributed Srila Prabhupadas books so there is one less excuse to not do so,as for TP's and GBC's and other devotees unwillingness to distribute Srila Prabhupadas books and set a poor example, that is up to them if they want to follow the lotus foot steps of Jayananda Prabhupada , at least many TP's and GBC's is indirectly involved in sastra dana and such programs, it is sad that some find excuses with persons from BBT also not distributing Prabhupadas books ,though many books are daily sold from BBT offices all over the world..any excuse not to distribute Srila Prabhupadas books and it is sad
your servant

PS I humbly suggest all TP's GBC's ,sannaysis and members of the BBT participate in the yearly Prabhupada marathon to set a good example also
Devotee (4): We were thinking about how everyone knows about Krsna now. In the United States they didn’t know before, but when they see this little picture on the book, they all know, “That is Krsna.” We hand them the book, and we say, “We’re passing these out.” They say, “Oh, that is Krsna.” …(Book distribution) is so successful that everyone has learned about Krsna.
Prabhupada: Oh, as soon as they see the picture, they understand it is Krsna.
Devotee: When they see the book they think, “Oh, the Hare Krsna devotees. I saw them on the street.” When they see the picture of Krsna on the book, they think of the devotees chanting.
Devotee: Sometimes, Srila Prabhupada, people travel from one airport to another, and they’ll get a book in Chicago and then they’ll come to Atlanta and we’ll approach them to give them another book, and they’ve already gotten one book in Chicago. And they ask, “How many of there are you around the world?” Because everywhere they go, in every airport they are getting books. So they think that there must be millions. They think that there must be millions of Hare Krsna devotees, because everywhere they go they’re being approached to take a book.
Devotee: I once asked a boy in Washington temple how many devotees he thought we had, and he said, “Oh, I cannot guess.” And I said, “Make an educated guess.” And he said, “Well, I’ve seen you here and I think maybe two million.” (laughter) And I said, “Three thousand. Now just see the potency of Hare Krsna. You’re thinking we’re two million, and we’re simply a handful.” He became a little convinced. So our books make us millions. People think we are millions because of the books.
Prabhupada: Push this on. Then our movement is successful. All Americans should have at least one set of books. That is not very difficult for them, to purchase one set books. But it will be a good asset for them if they keep and see sometimes. Any line he reads, he will get transcendental knowledge. Anyone who reads Krsna book, he will become Vaisnava. That’s a fact.
Devotee: But we have no attraction for Krsna. You are attracting us to Krsna.
Prabhupada: (laughing) Actually Krsna is attracting. Like one magnetic stone is attracting one piece of iron, and then another, then another.
Devotee: We are becoming happy by distributing your books.
Prabhupada: Thank you. They are Krsna’s books. (Conversation with Srila Prabhupada 3/2/75)
When Srila Prabhupada incorporated ISKCON in 1966 he stated the following as the aims and objectives of the society:
To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all peoples in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace within the world.
To propagate a consciousness of Krishna, as it is revealed in Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.
To bring the members of the society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead(Krishna).
To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy names of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.
To bring members together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.
With a view to achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, books and other writings.
