seeing through the eyes of scriptures

can the GBC give its version of these allegations, please?

Dear Praghosa Prabhu
Please accept my humble obaisences
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Many devotees all over the world is very shocked to read Mahavidya Prabhus accounts on Sampradaya sun:

http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/editorials/09-10/editorials6610.htm

I knew Mahavidya Prabhu when I served in the Bhaktidevanta Manor and Soho street in the past , and he made the Srila Prabhupada murti I worship to this day.I have never understood what went on ,and have been very surprised about the weddings of non devotees, but now a days they go on in many places ,though Srila Prabhupada clearly stated marriages of non devotees should not be performed.
The financial improprieties he mentions, should kindly be explained by your self, Prabhu as you are the acting GBC, I know my mind is very disturbed to hear so many things like that. Also my question is did Akandali Prabhu really get so much money from ISKCON UK to open a Manor on his own? What is the justification of the large salaries in the Bhaktivedanta manor?
Why is full time devotee given salaries?
I pray your are in good health
your servant

PAMHO ATSP!

I checked out the 'scandal' on the Sampradaya Sun, and asked a friend who is an ISKCON UK director about it as he just came round to us for Sunday feast. Apparently yes there was £50k in a safe at the Manor; at festival times, this is not unusual because of large donations (from up to 20,000 visitors). This was banked soon after, and the police took no action since there was no irregularity, except for Mahavidya's illegal action in recording his conversation with Vishvambar, denying doing so during the conversation, and then publishing it on the Internet. Presumably Vishvambar has better things to do than prosecute.

I and many other devotees agree that the Manor's wedding business is undesirable. The Manor is addicted to the income.

Akandadi was indeed given Buckland Hall by the Manor patrons as thanks for his part in saving the Manor; I don't know the exact details.

I spoke to Sruti Dharma last year(2009) and he told me that all managers at the manor earn approx. £25k, which for outer London is a poverty wage. Most other employees earn only the minimum wage.

As far as I'm aware, devotees are given salaries because they need food, shelter, transportation and clothing. To not pay salaries would restrict full-time service to only brahmacharies, brahmacharinis, the retired and those with private means.
