Ravinjay Prabhu asked:
Why are discussions of Lord Nrsimhadeva's post-destruction lila (per Atharva Veda) and his widely worshiped south Indian form of Ganda Bherunada widely ignored by Gaudiya Vaisnavas?
The answer is simple really:There is many manifestions of Lord Narasimha, and Ganda Bherunada is one of millions of forms of Lord Narasimha that manifest in the materiel universes, like waves in the Ocean. In Srimad Bhagavatam ,Sukadeva Goswami has mentioned some avatars. And in his Laghu Bhagavatamrta Srila Rupa Goswami has given more detailed information.Just like in Srimad Bhagavatam it is mentioned how Dhavantari manifested both during the churing of the ocean of Milk, but He also appeared on earth to bestow the science of Ayurveda.
As Gaudiya vaisnavas our focus is on Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He is also Lord Narasimha, and on some occasions He manifested this. One occasion is when 1000 names of Visnu was chanted and Gauranga assumed the mood of Lord Narasimha.Srivas Thakura was once scared of the muslims that decieded to kill him and prayed to Lord Narasimha, Lord Caitanya appeared and garantied that He was also Narasimha. And when Nrsimhananda Brahmacari wanted to see Gauranga assume the form of Lord Narasimha and accept His offering He did so.In Vaikuntha ,Lord Narasimha is a Visnu form, there is no "animal forms of the Lord there" this only takes place in the material universes.
In Narasimha palli in Mayapure, Bhaktivinoda Thakura had darshan of Lord Narasimha as described in his book Navadvipa Bhava Taranga, and Lord Narasimha blessed Him with Gauranga prema and Krsna prema.
We worship Lord Narasimha to remove our anarthas and obstacels in Bhakti, in some rare occasion to protect against the envious persons.Lord Narasimha being at Narasimha palli is more important than Ganda Bherunada.Ganda Bherunada is not accepting our prayer to get Krsna prema, but we can sure pray to this Ugra Aspect of Narasimha to uproot anarthas.
In Vrindavan devotees where worshipping Lord Narasimha is for Krsnas protection, the temple of Narasimha is still there in Nandagrama.
Every day mother Yasoda places Narasimha bija mantra on Krsnas body before she allows Him to go to the forest. So highly advanced Gaudiya vaisnavas pray for Krsnas protection (He is Svayam Bhagavan, but they do not see Him that way). This is far from the stage where one is scared of the material world and Lord Narasimha seems the only hope.Lord Caitanya (who is non different from Lord Narasimha) has asked us to chant Hare Krishna, 64 rounds a day ,for those unabel (or unwilling) Srila Prabhupada reduced it to minimum 16 rounds. If we want Lord Narasimhadevas full mercy, then we should chant 64 rounds of the Mahamantra every day.
And preach KC, go on sankirtana, Harinama and bookdistribtuion. We are not just armchairs philosophers.

Ganda Bherunada – Narasimha Incarnation of Lord Vishnu
Lord Narasimha as Ganda Bherunada (two-headed bird) is a rare incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is mainly worshipped in South India. Gandabherunada, or Gandha Bherunda Narasimha, is a combination of bird and animal with two heads and said to have manifested from Lord Narasimha as he was not able to control his anger. It is also believed that Ganda Bherunada incarnation was answer to Lord Shiva’s Sarabha form.
Ganda Bherunada is not mentioned in the Bhagavad Purana but is mentioned in the some regional scriptures and in some Puranas. Legend has it that Lord Vishnu took the form of Narasimha (half-man half-lion) to annihilate Demon Hiranyakashipu. But after completing His divine mission, Narasimha could not control his anger and turned to destroy the universe. Lord Shiva took the form of Sarabha to pacify Narasimha. But Lord Narasimha took a more terrible form of bird-animal with two heads – Ganda Bherunda.
The most famous drawing of Ganda Bherunada is found in the Mysore Court. A bird of the form of Gandabherunada is the royal logo of Wodeyars, the former rulers of Mysore.
An idol of Ganda Bherunada is worshipped at Sri Yadagiri Temple near Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. There is a sculpture of Ganda Bherunada at Balligavi town in Karnataka.
Idols, paintings and sculptures of Ganda Bherunada are very rare and those that are available are mainly found in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
